Michigan Student Service Award

garage_door_repairThe Michigan Student Service Award is a way of recognizing high school graduates who volunteer a significant number of hours to benefit their community though service and volunteerism.

During the course of their four years in high school students must complete and document, through HandsOn Battle Creek, 400 hours of community service and engagement.  They also must write a reflection of their experiences explaining how their involvement has impacted their community and their life.

If these requirements are complete, upon graduation from high school students will be awarded a certificate, a medallion to be worn at graduation, and a $500 scholarship to apply toward higher education or training.

HandsOn Battle Creek congratulates the 2010 MSSA recipients:

Jamie Probst of Harper Creek High School

Elizabeth Wilk of Harper Creek High School

Jessica Gerow of St. Philip Catholic Central High School

Karissa Lee of Lakeview High School
